Dear teacher,
The “Hands off my design” e-learning site was put on-line in order to help you teach your design students about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights in their future profession, or in other words how to protect their work in the best way.
Here you will find all kinds of didactic materials about IP: traditional classroom exercises and all kinds of reference materials as well as more experimental interactive & attractive learning games and presentations that can help the students learn by doing themselves.
The OHIM, is responsible for the Community Design system and it therefore comes natural that you will be able to find extensive information about the Community Design protection on this site, but there is also information about other kinds of IPR protection and links to other sites where you can find out more about them.
It is our ambition that any material in this area that could be useful to a future designer, should be found here, so if you have any ideas on how to improve the current site or on additional materials or topics to be touched upon, please let us know and write to us, using the contact us application on the site.
As you can see we have just launched a design competition asking for submittals that be used as guerrilla/viral marketing tools, aimed at illustrating the dangers and/or negative impact of counterfeits and illegal copies. Why don't you use this competition as an exercise in class?!
Or, if you are a professional, why not participate yourself!
