The OHIM is implementing a Quality Management System based on the internationally recognised quality standard ISO 9001:2008. This standard aims at continually enhancing the satisfaction of users by setting up performance targets built around their needs (Quality Management System Manual). The system is assessed externally to ensure these business practices are maintained.
The OHIM gathers feedback from users through large scale User Satisfaction Surveys. Its results are then translated into operational objectives, thus contributing to create a virtuous circle of continual improvement.
Since 2009, OHIM´s Quality Management System has been certified to the ISO 9001 standard for all design-related activities. In 2012, the scope of certification has been extended to cover all trade mark activities, legal affairs and boards of appeals. In the next two years, ISO certification will be extended to all areas of the Office.
What are the activities for which OHIM achieved ISO 9001 certification?
OHIM is also committed to meeting the highest possible environmental standards. The Office takes part in the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), a voluntary initiative designed to improve the environmental performance of organisations. Further details are available on the Environment section of this website.
