Administrative Board

The Administrative Board of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (Trade Marks and Designs) is composed of one representative from each Member State and one representative from the Commission, and their alternates.

The Chairperson is Mr Mihály FICSOR (Vice President of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office) and the deputy Chairperson is Ms Darina KYLIÁNOVÁ (President, Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic).

Since 1995, the Administrative Board has invited representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Benelux Trademark Office to participate in its meetings as observers and in 2009 the board extended observer status, for a period of two years, to five organisations representing users - INTA, BUSINESSEUROPE, MARQUES, ECTA and AIM. In November 2010, the Administrative Board extended observer status for a further four years to these five organizations.

Furthermore, two new observer seats have been added to the Administrative Board. The user associations APRAM, CNIPA, EFPIA, FICPI, GRUR, ICC and UNION will attend the meetings on a rotational basis for a four year pilot period as of January 2011.

The powers of the Administrative Board are defined in Section 3, Articles 126 to 129 of the Regulation on the Community trade mark.

The Secretariat for the Administrative Board is provided by the Office.
