The European Commission has published a call for tender for the establishment of a secretariat and a leadership board for a knowledge exchange initiative on European design and innovation, due to start next year.
The move follows the conclusions of the Competitiveness Council on 26 May, 2010 , when the Council invited the Commission and member states to give special attention to design, taking into account its leverage effect on innovation and economic well-being.
The Council said there was a need to “establish platforms for exchanging knowledge, experiences and best practices on design issues as a competitive advantage for European companies”.
The deadline for tenders for the secretariat and design innovation leadership board is 23 July 2010 .
