The Trade Marks and Designs Registration Office of the European Union
You are here: Home > Trade marks > Representation before OHIM
To ensure that OHIM and its clients can communicate easily, it is necessary for OHIM to be aware of the correct person to contact. In some cases, owners of an application or registration act for themselves in correspondence with OHIM. In other cases, they appoint a representative to act on their behalf.
Any communication addressed by OHIM to the appointed representative has the same effect as if addressed to the proprietor.
Likewise, any communication addressed to OHIM by the appointed representative has the same effect as if it originated from the proprietor.
No one inside the EU is compelled to be represented before the Office. However if you or your company are not based in the Community, you must be represented before the Office.
