After three days of meetings in Alicante, experts from national IP offices, user associations and OHIM are reflecting on future steps for convergence following the ground-breaking agreement reached on a new common practice on Class Headings.
The convergence meetings, from 26-28 June, set out the principles of a new common practice whereby a structure of “class scopes” will be used which, ideally, represent the content of a given class at a given time. The class scopes are derived from the Taxonomy of the harmonised database on goods and services and all terms used in the class scopes will be classifiable.
The principles of the new common practice will be proposed to OHIM’s Administrative Board and Budget Committee in November.
