As announced by OHIM last week, today sees the start of a series of meetings over the next three days to discuss issues relating to Class Headings Practice and the Harmonisation of Goods and Services.
Experts from National Offices and User Associations will discuss a number of classification related issues, starting on Tuesday with an in-depth analysis of the recent IP Translator Judgment and the implications it will have on future Class Headings and classification practice.
Other meetings running in parallel will deal with Taxonomy and a new initiative on individual Nice class heading terms. Work will also continue on a new converged practice involving the concept of “class scopes” which are general indications considered by all the experts to be specific and precise enough for classification purposes.
OHIM’s website will provide daily progress reports in its ‘Latest News’ section, including video interviews with participating experts.
